Plans

A plan is recurring work on an asset: preventive maintenance, calibration, inspection, validation or a condition check. Give it an interval and it knows when it is next due. Alert rules can watch plans exactly as they watch obligations.

Recording an event

When the work is done, record it: maintenance, repair, calibration, inspection, incident or decommissioning. Give it an outcome — pass, fail or conditional — plus any measurements, the downtime it caused and what it cost. Recording the event against a plan moves the plan on: the next due date is counted from when the work was done, so a job done three weeks late does not leave the plan permanently late.

Why events are never edited

Events are evidence. They are recorded, not rewritten, so the history reads the way the work happened. If one was recorded in error, record a correction; the asset's history report shows both.
